Copenhagen, 30 May 2024 - Tiimo, the daily planning and learning app designed for neurodivergent profiles, today announced it was nominated for a prestigious Apple Design Award in the Inclusivity category. The award-winning app, co-founded by two Danish women, was created to support neurodivergent people with organisation, time management and life skills. Intuitive visuals and accessible design make Tiimo a life-changing everyday tool for people with ADHD, Autism, dyslexia and anyone who thinks differently.
Backed by investors like Crowberry Capital, Goodwater Capital, Divergent Investments, and People Ventures, Tiimo is on a mission to transform daily life for the 1 billion people worldwide with ADHD, Autism, and other unique neurodivergent profiles.
Born out of a research project to support teenagers with ADHD in schools, Tiimo was founded in 2015 by co-founders Helene Lassen Nørlem and Melissa Würtz Azari, who herself has ADHD. The app supports executive functioning, from time management to goal-setting and building focus, and recently expanded its offerings with an innovative learning hub providing neuro-inclusive educational tools and content.
As part of the nomination, Apple shared the following thoughts about Tiimo:
A thoughtfully considered calendar app for the neurodivergent community. The app takes tremendous advantage of accessibility features and its Live Activities bring the content to a person’s Lock Screen. Intelligently conceived, sharply executed.
As a longtime advocate and ally of the neurodivergent community, Tiimo takes pride in challenging stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences, and actively celebrates the important contributions neurodivergent people make in all of our communities.
Co-founder Melissa Würtz Azari, late-diagnosed with ADHD, expressed the emotional significance of this nomination:, “Neurodivergent individuals often grow up with a feeling of being inadequate and not fitting in. My best advice is to not let that feeling prevent you from pursuing your dreams. Thinking differently is an incredible asset - there are countless examples of neurodivergent individuals going on to found hugely successful businesses, coming up with innovative solutions to long-term challenges and becoming successful creatives and artists. But for people with neurodivergence, it’s not always easy to manage the daily tasks that we encounter in society. Rather than let that limit you, we want to help you prove any doubters wrong. We’re incredibly proud that Apple has recognised what we’re trying to do for people with diagnoses like ADHD, autism and dyslexia by nominating Tiimo in their Inclusivity category.”
The small but international team at Tiimo has already won awards as best Nordic social impact startup and best assistive technology (Neurodiversity Awards), and is now earning global recognition with its nomination to the Apple Design Awards 2024 in the inclusivity category. Each year Apple recognizes the best and most innovative apps from millions featured in the App store with an award ceremony in Cupertino California, where the winners are announced globally.
This year’s winners of the Apple Design Awards will be revealed on June 10, 2024. For the full nomination list, please visit developer.apple.com/design/awards.
